Fuel Attendant

A challenging, permanent vacancy currently exists in the Addo Elephant National Park based at Addo Main Camp to perform the duties of a Fuel Attendant on a daily basis including weekends and public holidays.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • At least 7 – 12 months experience as a Fuel Attendant.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Knowledge of Customer Care Principals.
  • Basic Accounting Skills and Mathematical skills are essential.
  • Previous cash handling skills are essential.
  • Good interpersonal skills, communication and listening skills are essential.
  • No criminal record (criminal and reference checks will be conducted).
  • Proficiency in English and two other languages in the area.
  • Candidate should be willing to complete a Practical Exam as part of their interview.

Responsibilities

  • Providing a general service at the filling station that includes filling vehicles with fuel and oil and taking payments for all transactions.
  • Taking daily fuel pump readings and ensuring that the readings reconcile with actual sales for the day.
  • Ensuring that the safety measures at the filling station are always adhered to and in accordance with the relevant legislation.
  • Perform basic tasks such as the regular cleaning of the filling station and its surroundings ensuring neatness and hygiene.
  • Daily control over fuel and oil stock levels
  • Ordering of fuel as per the procurement protocol when fuel levels are low.
  • Being polite and attentive when serving customers and preventing mistakes by remembering customers’ requirements.
  • Verifying signatures on manual coupons as well as the accuracy of calculations.
  • Checking for correctness, faults or problems in equipment and machinery, recording in reports, documents and cash-up documentation.
  • Other Ad-hoc duties are not mentioned.

Systems Administrator

SANParks requires the services of a Systems Administrator in the Information and Technology department. This position will be based in the Groenkloof National Park, Pretoria.

Requirements

  • Be in possession of a BSc or B-Com Computer Science
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience as a System Support Engineer.
  • Knowledge of Advance Computer Literacy

  • Decision-making, resoluteness and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the ongoing administration of the CR AND CPM and associated applicants.
  • Provide a 24-hour support service to end users.
  • Manage projects related to CR and PMS and associated applications.
  • Provide specialised advice from CR and PMS and associated applications on a continuous basis to management.
  • Ensure that the end users of CR and PMS are informed on tourism related matters.
  • Interface between users and the software development team to identify and resolve system defects.
  • Jointly with the IT and development teams, roll out new software and ensure rapid solutions to system-related issues.

A position for a Field Assistant on a fixed-term contract up to the end of March 2027 (renewable on mutual agreement) is available at Meerkat National Park. The Salary is on a B4 band, R 11 260.24 Salary + R 2 310.58 housing as the incumbent will be staying outside the Park.

GEF 6 Programme Coordinator

(Fixed-Term Contract of 2 Years)

There is a fixed-term contract position of GEF 6 Programme Coordinator, at the Kruger National Park. The position will be stationed at the KNP Phalaborwa Office. The successful candidate will be reporting to the General Manager: Regional Integration, KNP.

Purpose of the Job:
To oversee the coordination of the GEF 6 Programme within the Greater Kruger Footprint. The GEF 6 programme is a partnership programme, which seeks to reduce illegal wildlife crime, whilst supporting community governance and livelihood interventions in three community clusters bordering the KNP.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate qualification in Environmental / Natural resource management/community development or a similar post-graduate tertiary qualification would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in conservation area management and stewardship arrangements. Knowledge of wildlife crime and how it impacts the relationship between local communities and protected areas.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in project coordination. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in interacting with a diverse range of stakeholders and experience in conservation projects liaison with local communities, and implementation within rural contexts.

  • Financial management.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English.
  • A valid South African resident status.

Responsibilities

  • Project management: ensure quality coordination, administration, and delivery of Programme activities.
  • Stakeholder relationships: develop, strengthen, and/or coordinate actions around the GEF 6 Workplan activities through multi-stakeholder arrangements. This includes engagement with a range of project and government sectors, local community structures, Municipal structures, research institutions, and NGO partners.
  • Environmental monitor programme: provide support to the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the KNP Integrated Fence Initiative.
  • Stewardship incentives: provide strategic support to the stewardship programme incentives linked to partner projects within the GEF 6 sites.
  • Livelihood opportunities: provide support to the GEF 6 programme in identifying livelihood opportunities, and the associated project support to identified initiatives.
  • Human capital management: oversee the Management of the Fence Stewardship Supervisors.
  • Training and learning: provide support to GEF 6 training and learning activities.
  • Complementary funding programmes: provide strategic guidance for complementary outcomes linked to partner programmes, seeking to reduce wildlife crime, improve conservation-compatible livelihoods, and strengthen youth champion networks.
  • Monitoring, evaluation, and learning: maintain effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning system, supported by the GEF 6 partner arrangements. This also includes sharing lessons learned from the three GEF 6 cluster areas and at a national level, for replication and scale-up.

  • NB. It should be noted that the positions are externally funded.
  • The position is expected to stay outside the Park since there is no accommodation, hence the package is inclusive of housing allowance.
  • Total Cost To Company Package: R28, 354.91 (incl. Car Allowance) per month. In addition, the Incumbent will be paid Cell Phone Allowance amounting to R600.00 per month.

Project Manager (Meerkat National Park)

A position for a Project Manager on a fixed-term contract up to 31 March 2027 (renewable on mutual agreement) is available at Meerkat National Park. This position is on a C4 Paterson Salary Band total remuneration package of R 28 170.40 per month as the incumbent will stay outside the Park. The incumbent will also receive a Tool of Trade allowance of 4 529.68 (must be suitable 4×2 vehicle) pending approval as per SANParks Delegation Framework.

Requirements

  • National Diploma in Conservation or Environmental Management/Environmental Science
  • Minimum of 2 years of proven project management experience
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in rehabilitation techniques is essential for this position and or
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in invasive alien plant clearing is essential for this position
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in health and safety management and compliance
  • Computer literacy in MS Office packages
  • Code 08 driver’s license
  • Fluent in Afrikaans
