The Compensation Fund is seeking a highly qualified professional to serve as the Risk Management Committee Chairperson. This executive-level oversight role is critical for ensuring robust governance, internal controls, and legislative compliance within the public sector.

Remuneration

Members will be remunerated in accordance with the rates approved by the Department of Employment and Labour.


Risk Management Committee Chairperson Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

To be considered for this leadership role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) in Accounting, Risk Management, or Auditing.
  • Professional Certification: Post-graduate qualifications or certifications such as CA (SA), CIA, CRMA, or CISA.
  • Professional Affiliation: Active membership with recognized bodies (e.g., IRMSA, IIA, ISACA, or SAICA).
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of leadership experience, specifically serving as a Chairperson of Risk or Audit Committees within large public or private sector institutions.

Risk Management Committee Chairperson Core Knowledge Areas:

  • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.
  • Governance frameworks: COSO, COBIT, and ISO standards.
  • Public Sector Risk Management Framework and DPSA guidelines.
  • Extensive experience in Anti-Fraud, Compliance Management, and Business Continuity (BCM).

Risk Management Committee Chairperson Key Responsibilities and Duties

The successful candidate will provide strategic oversight and assist the Accounting Officer in the following areas:

  • Governance & Oversight: Lead the Risk Committee in monitoring Governance, Internal Controls, and Regulatory Compliance.
  • Risk Strategy: Execute responsibilities according to the Compensation Fund Risk Committee Terms of Reference.
  • Inter-Departmental Collaboration: Serve as a member of the Compensation Fund Audit Committee and the National Risk Management Committee.
  • Integrity Management: Oversee Anti-corruption, Business Continuity, and ICT Risk Management.
