About the Discovery Health Long Term Insurance Learnership

Discovery Health is offering a Long Term Insurance Learnership that provides an opportunity to gain a nationally recognised FETC: Long Term Insurance NQF Level 4 qualification while gaining valuable practical workplace experience in the financial services industry.
The programme combines structured theoretical learning with practical workplace experience, allowing successful learners to develop important skills in insurance, customer service, claims, compliance and health benefits administration.
Key Purpose of the Learnership
The Discovery Health Long Term Insurance Learnership is designed to provide learners with exposure to the long-term insurance and medical aid environment.
Learners may gain experience in areas including:
- Client servicing
- Claims administration

Key Responsibilities
Successful learners may be responsible for:
- Servicing clients and key stakeholders telephonically and through other appropriate service channels.
- Resolving customer queries efficiently and professionally.
- Providing customer-centric service to Discovery Health members.
- Keeping up to date with changes to products and services.
- Using digital servicing tools effectively.
- Understanding and applying relevant business processes and procedures.
- Achieving and exceeding service delivery and performance targets.
- Maintaining high levels of accuracy when processing customer information.
- Supporting claims, new business and health benefits administration where required.
Requirements for the Discovery Health Learnership
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric is essential.
- Mathematics: Minimum Level 4 (50%).
- English: Minimum Level 4 (50%).
- Mathematical Literacy: Minimum Level 5 (60%).
- Second language: Minimum Level 4 (50%).
- An incomplete tertiary qualification may be an advantage.
- Applicants must be 18 to 25 years old.
- Applicants must not currently be engaged in post-Matric studies.
- Applicants must not have a completed tertiary qualification.
- Applicants must not have formal employment experience.
- Part-time or informal work experience is advantageous.
- Applicants must not have completed a previous learnership.
- Effective written and verbal English communication skills are required.
- Basic computer skills are required, particularly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
