PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To safely install, maintain and repair electrical systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure plant/operations performance is maintained within normal operating parameters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Trade Test Certificate in Electrical.
• Wireman’s License
• Master Installation certificate – desirable.
• Relevant experience in a mining/chemical environment will be an advantage.
• Good communication skills with the ability to read and write in English.
• Ability to read and interpret basic circuit diagrams.
• Ability to interpret readings obtained from electrical measuring equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and instrumentation drawings.
• Demonstrate an understanding of low and medium-voltage circuits in the plant.
• Knowledge and understanding of plant equipment and processes.
• Knowledge pertaining to lock-out and isolation procedures.
• Working knowledge of plant equipment and first-line fault identification.
• Hand-eye coordination skill
• Must be medically fit for PMR.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Attend to all electrical breakdowns, daily inspections, and new installations.
• Electrical Construction: i.e., strap and lay cables; installation and maintenance of low voltage networks; identify and mark off the positions of sockets, light fittings and associated trunking in offices and administration buildings; drill pre-marked mechanical components; disassembly/assembly of electrical subcomponents by holding and positioning of equipment; join low/medium voltage cables etc.
•  Electrical Installations: install and commission three-phase AC machines and control gear as week as single-phase AC machines; install and commission DC machines, install and terminate low voltage cables and conductors etc.
• Electrical Maintenance: maintain the integrity of workshops, work areas, storage areas and substations; maintain and prepare the phase AC machines and control gear, maintain HT and low voltage switchgear; maintain transformers etc.
• Electrical Diagnoses: Diagnose faults on electrical reticulation systems; inspect, record and report the condition of medium/high voltage station apparatus and related equipment.
• Carry out basic electric arc welding, gas welding, brazing, and cutting in an electrical environment.
• Design and install  electrical wire ways and develop ISO schematic diagrams and submit to the Electrical Foreman for approval to update electrical reticulation plant records.
• Conduct battery and battery systems maintenance.
• To obtain safety permits as and when required by following the safety permit acceptor duties.

JOB TITLE Junior Plant Operator – Converters

JOB GRADING B4

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• 6 O level passes including Mathematics, English Language and Science
• Good understanding of SHEQ standards and procedures.
• Previous work experience in a processing or mining environment.
• Work experience in converter operations will be an added advantage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducting pre-use inspection of equipment and operating checklists and reporting malfunctions to the Senior Plant Operator for corrective action
• Punching converter tuyeres, maintenance of converter tuyeres and quenching of punch bars.
• Cleaning converter hood, silica chutes and granulation spoon.
• Drilling converter tuyeres before installation of tuyere bodies.
• Assisting crane driver in the Aisle.
• Taking silica, converter matte and converter slag samples to Laboratory for analysis.
• Tracking of equipment availability and urgently reporting of breakdowns to minimise impact on production.
• Monitoring equipment performance and logging of plant parameters on respective sectional log sheets
• Carrying out housekeeping in the section and adhering to the Five Point Safety System, Platinum Rules, Safe Production Rules, and requirements of the company’s Business Management Systems policy.
